filling

  • 8 cups of cut fruit
  • 2 table spoons of lime juice
  • 1/4 cup of sugar
  • 2 teaspoons of flour 1
  • 1/4 teaspoon of nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon of cinnamon

topping

  • 1 & 1/2 cups of flour
  • 3/4 cup of sugar
  • 1/2 cup of brown sugar
  • 1 & 1/2 teaspoon of baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of baking soda
  • 1 & 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon
  • freshly grated nutmeg to you hearts content
  • 3/4 cup of chilled butter cut into 1/2 inch pieces
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 half cup of oats or 1/4 cup of oats and a 1/4 cup of nuts
  • 1 table spoon of lime zest

Directions

  1. preheat oven to 350
  2. zest then juice one lime or till you get enough juice and zest
  3. get a 13×9 baking pan and put all the filling ingredients in then mix
  4. in a mixing bowl add the flour, sugars, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, oats and lime zest and begin mixing
  5. while mixing slowly add the butter once all butter is added put in the egg mix till combined
  6. make sure the fruit mixture is level in the 13×9 then crumble the topping over the top
  7. bake for 40 min2

  1. may need more depending on fruit more watery fruits like apples, pear or plums will need more ↩︎
  2. just like the flour you may need to bake longer for watery fruit to make sure filling is thick. you can continue to bake it long as the topping isn’t burning. ↩︎
